Busy Busy

I have been so behind on trying to update my life on tumblr. Since the last post we have moved into our first house, moved in, painted, and landscaped the crap out of it. That doesn’t look like much to most people but we were left with less than a blank slate of a yard. More like a broken slate on a sideways easel.

Work wise I have set-up, executed, and harvested a whole seasons worth of experiments in southern Texas and managd not to strange my boss in the process. Work here in WA has FINALLY picked up. Due to a super wet and cold spring thus far we have finally planted our first set of experiments this week. Pretty much I have taken on about twice as many experiments that I am comfortable with and am already stressed. But as I talked with another scientist today he told me i am “not stressed, but just have very many tasks to accomplish.” Needless to say, this week I am constantly hungry due to increased workload. Which means I am on the road to losing weight. This is actually not ok with me this time. With my wedding in october I need to maintian my weight that I am at now. That means more food and beer for me…. not the normal pre-wedding diet!

Wedding wise I have found a judge to marry us, gotten the boys fitted, and looked into linens and bought more decorative stuff. Super ready to be done with the whole thing and hope that we get there soon just so I can eat all of the food. My co-worker is making the great main course of BBQ beef brisket and lousiana shrimp boil. This makes me extremely happy to have something different from the normal wedding buffet!

ANYWAYS, I will keep up on this at some point and am super excited to see my niece this weekend. This house and landscaping has hindered me seeing her as much as i want but I will be happy happy to see her soon!

Not in the Christmas mood!

Not like I am in a “BA-HUMBUG” kind of mood but I’m sure I’m not in a motivated mood. It has been two weeks since my last posting about the house and pretty much nothing has changed. Our agent emailed us on Friday and told us that our loan officer thinks she will be able to have us close before the end of the year! That would be great if that would happen the week of New Years because I get that Friday off which means I could paint to my heart’s content.(And force anyone else with time to paint too!)

In the meantime we have been figuring out what furniture we will need and what we can wait on. At this point we hate the mattress that is on my bed right now. I have been waking up,tossing, turning, and having limbs go numb on a nightly basis. Yesterday we meandered around town and looked at beds. We have our minds set on a memory foam bed. BUT not Temperpedic. A lot of the retailers actually had many bad things said about temperpedic. Needless to say they just have great advertising. ANYWAY we found beds from 1200 to 5000 dollars. HOLY COW. That is not cheap! The funny thing  is that the one we liked was the cheaper one but still. At this point in time larger funds are going directly to the downpayment. So we will just have to switch to a different mattress that I have when we move in and stash money until we can get it! But if anyone feels generous we need the queen sized “Glideaway” at the Sleep Shop in yakima. (corner of 1st and Walnut) Yeah right!

Back to my Christmas un-motivation. I still hadn’t bought the last few gifts until yesterday when I took my little cousin out to get something for her mom. If we hadn’t have gone I wouldn’t have made it out on my own. Everyone go their gifts though and my little cousin, which is also my goddaughter, got her’s too. Yes, she picked out her own gift and vowed to act surprised when she got it. I just really want this to be over with so we can get the really Christmas present we want, our house. But in the meantime… Merry Christmas!

First Pair O Pink Chucks

Life Lately….

Well, it has been fun yet stressful. Rob and I have been in the process of finding a home for the past three months or so. I have been on it like white on rice! I check the MLS daily and spring into action like one of those super heroes you adored when you were a kid. BUT… most of the time my “springing” was a little too slow and the house would be sold or have accepted offers but not this time! Last week on wednesday we met with our agent to send in an offer on a house in Selah (quant little town outside of Yakima) and prior to our meeting I was stalking houses on the MLS. Yes, it feels like stalking sometimes. And vuuuaaalllaaa, there is this small little house for sale at about $89,000. Most of the time these houses priced so low are hideous inside. Holes in walls, on main arterials, have meth houses as neighbors, or were meth houses themselves. This one though is none of these. It isn’t on a main road and is actually surrounded by equally cute homes. The inside has hardwood floors throughout, which need to be refinished but still, and the walls a hole-less and only have a few cracks in the plaster which is easy enough to repair.

Needless to say we made an offer that night.. after the house was on the market for a whole eight hours! The next night, they accepted our offer and I was suprised because we even asked for closing costs. Yesterday we did an inspection and signed all of the loan papers to get the ball rolling. The bank appraisal , the loan going through, and closing ( giving up my down payment) is all that is left to do. Needless to say I can’t sleep. I am convinced something is going to go wrong.

I have always been the type to think of every bad thing that could happen in ANY situation. I stress to the max on most important things in life…. and I think this one is something pretty big and important. If I make it through these next three weeks without an ulcer or canker sore (which is due to stress not herpes) I will be doing pretty well. I just never realized how stressful buying your first home is. Plus the FHA with us “first time homebuyers” are pretty strict. That doesn’t help my stress level FHA!

If this all goes well and as planned we will soon have our first abode. A place for our cat child Johnny to grow up lol. It also helps when the payments would be a little lower than actually renting the same house in Yakima. I would live in town for the first time.. ever! That I have figured would most likely make me fat because there is a Safeway down the street. I just never have to cave in and get cable because the Food Network plus the access to food would be deadly! In the mean-time I will just stress and vent on here. I still haven’t told many people/relatives about the process we are going through because I want those keys in my hand before people start rejoicing. So I will just vent to a few friends that have access to this and random people of the word.

OH.. wedding plans have pretty much halted due to home searching too. Next will be ordering invites and save-the-dates. That should happen after the first of the year. Now I am off to go drink coffee and lots of it so I can make it through today with my new fashionable dark circles around my eyes. Cross your fingers… and toes!

To buy or to DIY?

Lately I have been scowering the world wide web in search of different types of invitations. You can buy cheap ones, expensive ones, skinny ones, and pretty much get anything made for you on Etsy. I have found a few on Wedding Paper Divas that I liked but then I feel so stingy when I see how much these ones are that I like.

So then my stingy DIY side kicks into gear and I found some invitation templates online. Pretty much for free…ok maybe ten dollars. Then I found a link to some quality card stock in the colors I like for fifteen dollars. Two more color ink cartridges for twenty-six dollars. Envelopes.. inner, outer, and rsvp…. thirty five ish… In the end If I chose the DIY side then I would be doing it at about half the cost (if not less).

But do I really want to? If I do it early enough then I could totally motivate myself to do it. HMMMMM…
